The Social, Meaningful, Involvement, Leadership Experiences (SMILE) programme emphasizes the importance of community service and encourages students to take a more active role in shaping how they use their time and talents to help others. SMILE allows students to become involved in meaningful community events during school hours such as Christmas gift drives, tree planting, the Ride for Autism and The Great Canadian Shoreline Clean Up. Students are also encouraged to fundraise or raise awareness about other charities that are important to them. This has included the Oakville Humane Society, Credit Valley Hospital and the Children’s Aid Society.
The goals of both programmes are to encourage fun, adventure and involvement in the community through events and activities that are rewarding and create a lifetime of memories while teaching social responsibility.
